July Challenge

Reader Malina submitted this layout for the July Brad / Eyelet Challenge. Malina said, "here is a double 12x12 page layout in which I used brads as a decorative accent which would also ground my accent color papers and compliment my color scheme. You will see on the first page there are 10 lime green brads flanking the sides of the photo/journal mat and on the second page there are 8 turquoise blue brads grounding the purple mat to the far right and a single lime green brad on the left side of the page which appears to hold the orange runner of paper. I felt using the brads in this manner added just the right simple accent I needed to compliment the page. Malina's blog

July Challenge

Saucer Time by Monica Design Team Monica submitted this layout (and I almost forgot to post it - So sorry). She said, "I wanted to dig into my stash so I decided to go with eyelets. I have always had a hard time with knowing how to use them. Well more like where to place them on a page. I decided to make a border around my title with the eyelets. I think it turned out ok.
This is a lo about the first time my son was in his saucer! He loved his saucer! Can't believe how fast he is growing!

Meet August Guest Design Team Member - Angie

I was thrilled to be picked to be part of this team. I have been scrapin for many years and have seen fads come and go but
the one thing that remains is that we all are trying to use our stash to keep the memories of our loved ones around. For me this is a creative outlet. While I mostly make scrapbook pages I love to make mini albums and home decor altered items also.
Ya never know what I might come up with and glue paper on. I live in northeast PA with the hubby we have 3 grown kids, 2 grandkids
and 3 dogs, all enjoy being the center of my scrapbook pages.

Posted by PicasaYou won't want to miss Angie's contribution to Scrap Our Stash in August.
Don't forget to come by and see who will win a spot on the September Guest Design Team - it's not too late - get your submission in by 6 PM today. See all the details in July Challenge below.

Meet August Design Team Member - Sara

My name is Sara Zenger and I have lived in the same area of Northern New York for my entire life - 30 years! There is something about 'Small Town' USA that has made my husband of 9 years and I want to stay and raise our 6 year old son in. We are close to both of our families and enjoy the feeling of being home. I am a full time working girl outside of the the home, as the manager for my parents' convenience store. This is a business that my parents have owned and grown for 30 years and its very much a part of who I am. However, 6 years ago I tapped in to my more creative side when I started scrapbooking and soon it became a full time hobby! I started to try and make a little money to support my habit and to show others how much fun and rewarding scrapbooking could be. I started offering 'Scrap N Chat Days' at local community centers one Saturday per month. These days have done more for me that I ever could have imagined! I am amazed at how many women came to me wanting to scrapbook but did not know how or where to start and once they gave it a try they have never
looked back! I have met many wonderful people and made so many friends that mean the world to me. It makes me feel so good to know that I have helped so many women! My Scrap N Chat Days still continue but now I have converted my garage in to a scrapbook room for 24 girls to come and enjoy with me! I am currently preparing to host my 7th weekend long retreat! My very first retreat had 12 girls in attendance and I was thrilled with that but as of my last retreat we were up to 72 girls and still growing! It just goes to prove that there are scrapbookers everywhere, even in small towns! I recently started
my blog in hopes to inspire others to try something new and give them creative ideas.

All of us at Scrap Our Stash are looking forward to working with Sara for the month of August. I am sure her enthusiasium for scrapbooking will inspire all of us.

I have attached my submission for your July challenge using brads or eyelets!!

As you can see in the first photo, I used DCVW pp, and an assortment of brads to make the flourish on the left hand side, as well as some French knots using DMC floss. The lettters are Tim Holtz grunge board alphas that I painted! Hope you enjoy!

The second photo is just a photo close up of all the brads I used!

What fun was this! Thanks!!

My Little Love by Stacy Reader Stacy submitted this layout for the July Brad / Eyelet Challenge. She said, "Here is my layout with Brads....I scrapped it with beautiful paper from Bo Bunny which totally inspired me. The flowers were BBP (Bazzill Basics Paper) in Chiffon (so sweet). I used 8 brads - 4 purple and 4 green. I went nuts with the crystal stickles, added a little ribbon, stickers and a cool chipboard title. It is made with a sketch from Sketch Inspirations.

I hope you like it!!

$$Frugal Friday Tip$$

Design Team member Monica submitted the following Frugal Friday Tip. She said, "My frugal tip is a simple one that some of you may already do. I save almost all of my paper scraps, I hate to throw paper away. I use my scraps to make simple cards. I don't like to spend too much time on my cards, I like them simple. Making cards is also a good way to use up all these flowers you have or any other embellishment you haven't used in a while.
I keep my cardstock scraps by color and then have a folder for all my patterned paper scraps. I made all these cards one night when I couldn't sleep but didn't feel like I wanted to do a whole lo. What do you do with your scraps?
If you have a frugal tip to share - just email the tip along with a picture to scrappinpsycho@live.com. You could be featured as our next Frugal Friday tip. Posted by Picasa

You Rock by Kimmarie

Design Team Member Kimmarie submitted this layout for the July Brad / Eyelet Challenge. She said, "I received all these papers and embellies from my friend, Kelli. She challenged me to use everything she gave me. I DID IT! I was so surprised that I was able to use all the supplies she gave me. Sometimes I get stuck and I am not sure where to place things, not this time. Everything fell into place. I even used the paperclip she used to hold the instuctions. lol

These are pictures of my niece, Angel. I was truly inspired by her pictures and the colors of the papers Kelli had given me. I was so happy to see so many brads in the goodie bag. I just mixed them up with the other embellies and had fun with it.

Do you scrap with brads or eyelets? If so, email your creation to scrappinpsycho@live.com and Kathy will post your prject on the SOS blog. Don't forget to do our second sketch challenge as well. See all the details below in July Challenge.

July Challenge

Design Team Member Rachel created this layout for the July Brad / Eyelet Challenge. She said, this layout is about the traditional July 4th celebration that I participate in each year. I looked EVERYWHERE for brads in my stash, but didn't find any! I resigned that I wouldn't have any, so I substituted buttons for brads for this challenge and used them in the center of my flowers. When I was looking for my cutting blade to cut the 2 pages apart, I found some brads so I added them to the upper right corner to add some extra detail! Thanks for this challenge!
Now it's your turn to accept the challenge - maybe the challenge will be to find those brads or eyelets, like Rachel. Send a picture and brief description of your project to scrappinpsycho@live.com . We will post it to the blog - and you could be chosen as a Guest Design Team member for September. See all the details in the July Challenge post.

July Challenge

Design Team member Laurie submitted this layout for the July Brad / Eyelet Challenge. She said, "This layout is about last Valentine's Day. I made heart shaped pancakes for my DH as a surprise. I've had the layout finished for a little while, but knew it was missing just a little bit more decor somehow. The July challenge came to the rescue as I really got to use my stash with these Making Memories heart shaped brads. I have had these forever! Now I feel happy about the final layout result.

Recipe Cards by Kimmarie

Kimmarie submitted these recipe cards for the July Brad / Eyelet Challenge. She said, "I am hosting a Recipe Card swap over at CK Club and I decided to use brads on them. I love doing swaps. I am sharing my recipe cards with all the peeps here at SOS because I thought it would be nice to post something other than a layout to show that you can use brads on anything. The recipe cards measure 4 x 6 inches. There were no other specifics in the altering. I also stitched on the front bottom of the cards to add some more dimension. The paper I used was Chatterbox. I have been hoarding this paper for years and finally decided it was time to use it. I think the papers are perfect for the recipe cards. Next project I will be using eyelets. I have so many and haven't used them in a very long while. I actually have 3 types of tools to set them with, so I will be playing alot this month.

When was the last time you used brads or eyelets? Get creative and share your projects with us. Email your completed project to scrappinpsycho@live.com and Kathy will post it on our blog. You could be chosen for the September Guest Design Team. See all the details in July Challenge below.

Scrap Our Stash Sketch Challenge 2

Sweet by Mandy

Reader Mandy submitted this layout for the Scrap Our Stash Sketch 2 Challenge. She said, "This was a fun sketch. The journaling in the first circle says "I made The Pioneer Woman's from-scratch cinnamon rolls one morning for work, and you got so excited! When I gave you a pan for work, you said "tell your friends thanks for experimenting on me!" and the journaling in the second circle says "We made such a huge mess making the cinnamon rolls, and I had to go to work without cleaning it up. When I got home, I found out you cleaned the whole kitchen for me! I literally said 'God bless you Jack!' out loud." Mandy has also posted her layout on HER BLOG

Use a Magazine Ad as your patterned paper by Kathy

Posted by PicasaWhat better way to get cute patterned paper for your layout - then for free from a magazine ad. I loved this paper kit that was advertised in a Hobby Lobby Scrapbooking magazine. So, I just cut all the pieces out in squares, rounded the corners, inked them - and I had my page. Even the mat behind the photo and the photo turn are cut from the ad.
I actually liked this paper so much - that I ended up buying the package.
What can you make from a magazine ad? We'd love for you to share it with us.
Do you have a frugal tip you'd like to share? Just email a picture and description to Scrappinpsycho@live.com. You could be featured as our next Frugal Friday Tip!
